Cathy Andrea Bowling Parker, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston, SC.

Born in Asheville, NC, on February 1, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Michael Everett Bowling and Gertie Hicks Bowling Kerley. In addition to her parents, Cathy is preceded in death by her brother, Michael Bowling, Jr. and sister Connie.

Cathy attended Shelby High School and went on to graduate from Gardner-Webb University. She dedicated over four decades of her life to serving as a nurse in the Operating Room at Atrium Heath Cleveland.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Cathy found immense joy from cherished moments spent with her family. Whether embarking on countless camping trips or creating lasting memories outdoors, she embraced each opportunity to connect with her family and friends.

In her leisure time, she found solace and joy in the gentle art of sewing, crochet, and knitting. Her love for literature was evident in her avid reading. Amidst her creative pursuits, she nurtured a special bond with her beloved dogs and cats, tending to their needs with utmost care and affection.

Cathy is survived by her husband of 50 years, Howard Lee Parker, daughter Angela Marie Parker, brother Malvin Kerley, Jr., as well as numerous extended family and beloved grandogs.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday May 9, 2024 in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Len Byers Officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM. Burial will be held in the Mausoleum of Cleveland Memorial Park following the service.
