Cedric Winthrop “Choo Choo” Sims

 

Mr. Cedric Winthrop “Choo Choo” Sims, 57, of 215 Best St. Shelby, NC departed this life on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.  He was born on October 22, 1955 in Cleveland County to the late Henry William and Betty Lee Barron Sims. 

 

 

Cedric was employed with White Oak Manor Nursing Home where he was employed for a number of years as a Certified Nursing Assistant until his health declined.  Cedric loved God and was a member of Christ for the Nations Church where he was active as an usher and with the food ministry. In his earlier days, he was an amateur fighter.  He enjoyed music, helping children in the neighborhood and loved to collect things especially cards and karate books.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James A. Barron and Henry William Sims, Jr.

 

Left to cherish his memory are three sisters, Margaret Louise Hill of Baltimore, MD and Catherine L. Hosch and Patricia “Ann Bug” Hartgrove both of Shelby; his nieces and nephews, Denise Whiteside, Charles Logan, Keith Logan, Tracy Eaves, Kenneth Sims and Brian Eaves; three close friends, Clifford Nash, “Shelby Shorty” and Frankie Hines and a host of other relatives and friends.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Christ for the Nations Church with Rev. Michael Gullatte officiating.  Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:00 PM at the church and at other times and at 403 Weathers St. in Shelby.   Condolences can be expressed online at www.enloes.net.  Enloe Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
