Charles "Charlie" Powell, age 72, of Mooresboro, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Atrium Health-Charlotte.

Charlie was born Thursday, April 6, 1950 in Gaffney, SC to the late George Powell and Ruth Isabell White Powell. He was a self-employed painter who owned and operated Powell's Painting for many years. He worked mostly in the Shelby area and in Cleveland County. Charlie enjoyed going to dirt track races and was an avid Duke fan. Charlie's world was his family. He loved watching his grandchildren play baseball and soccer. His favorite times in life were spent with family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Roper; a brother, Marvin Powell and sister, Carolyn Barrett.

Left to cherish fond memories include his sons, Tony Powell (Catherine) and Timmy Powell (Lisa) all of Ellenboro; sister, Betty Canipe of Shelby; brothers, Jimmy Powell of Grover, NC, Donald Powell (Cindy) of Crowder's Mountain, NC and Billy Powell (Carol) of Mooresboro. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Camryn, Chase and Mason Powell.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Johnny McCarty officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Interment will be private for the family.
