Charles "Chuck" Wray Lemons

Charles "Chuck" Wray Lemons, 72, of Boiling Springs lost his battle with cancer on September 01, 2017 in his home surrounded by his family. Chuck was born in Shelby to parents Charlie Lemons and Ruby Lemons Scism. Chuck grew up with one sister, six half-sisters and three half-brothers. In 1968 he married Jane Chambers, of Shelby and this past June they celebrated their 49th anniversary. Chuck's passion for horses was realized through his work as a farrier in the Cleveland County and surrounding areas for over 45 years. He was a friend and mentor to many in the community and will always be remembered for his willingness to help anyone in need.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Lemons and Ruby Scism and half-brothers Gary Lemons and Joe Scism Jr.
Chuck is survived by his wife Jane, their two sons Hud and wife Megan of Fredericksburg, VA, Ben and wife Elizabeth "Liz" of Boiling Springs, and Daniel Costner and wife Lee Anne of Shelby. He was "Paw-Paw" to 5 grandchildren: Kayla, Madie, Finley, Becca, and Norah. He is also survived by his step-mother Betty Lemons, sister Precilla Wiesener, and his half-siblings John W. Scism, Minnie Dulaney, Suzie Beatty, Nancy Dover, Judy Wall, Brenda Whitworth and Peggy White.
The family will receive friends at Cleveland County Funeral Home of Shelby on Monday September 4, 2017 from 3:00 to 5:00pm. The family will hold a separate private burial service.
Chuck fought cancer for over seven years and at the end of his life had the support and services of the nurses and caregivers at Cleveland County Hospice. In lieu of flowers the family is asking you to honor Chuck's life with a donation to either Colon Cancer Alliance (www.ccalliance.org) or to Cleveland County Hospice (www.hospicecares.cc).
