Charles Durham Robertson, 87, died Friday Oct 9, 2015. He was born in Rutherford County, NC on June 4, 1928. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Shelby. He was educated at Shelby High School & Gardner Webb Junior College.

He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict, and was honorably discharged as a Sargent First Class. He was also a member and past president of Shelby Lions Club and a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge #202 AF/AM. He served as a US Commissioner in 1963. He retired from Sears Roebuck after 34 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his father, D. Robertson, and his Mother, Myrtle Hicks Robertson.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Fortenberry Robertson, and daughter, Carol Robertson of Dallas; A sister, Mary D Robertson Beam, and husband Zeb E Beam Jr.;brothers in law Bill Fortenberry and wife Irene of Shelby; Wallace Fortenberry and wife Judy of Cataula GA, Parham Beam of Shelby, Dennis Hagler and his wife Carolyn of Jacksonville Fl;; sisters in law, Jo Humphries of Lake City Fl and Martha L Fortenberry of Fallston NC; and a host of nieces and nephews who were very special to him.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 12, 2015 at 1pm at Sunset Cemetery with the Rev. Tony Tench presiding. Visitation will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
