Charles Edward Creswell, Jr., age 88, died Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Carolinas HealthCare-Cleveland. Born February 9, 1930 in Lawrence Co., Arkansas, he was the son of the late Charles E. Creswell, Sr. and Sue Lassiter Creswell Morris. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. Charles served in the US Air Force for four years and achieved the rank as Staff Sargent. He was retired after a 32 year career as Shelby Area Superintendent for Duke Power. In retirement, Charles enjoyed working on lawnmowers, going to Flea Markets, fishing, and spending time with family. He enjoyed watching Duke Basketball and Clemson Football. In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by a brother, Roy Lassiter Creswell, and his beloved feline companion, "Whitey".

Charles is survived by his wife of 63 years, Libby Arnold Creswell; a daughter, Cary Duncan and husband Bob of Farmington, Utah; two sons, Chris Creswell and wife Cathy of Boiling Springs and Clay Creswell and wife Terri of Rocky Point; six grandchildren, Dr. Jay Duncan, Matt Duncan, Casey Creswell and wife Spencer, and Christian Creswell, Samantha Treto, and Joey Treto; and two great grandchildren, Elsie Creswell and Noah Jones.

Funeral service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Dale Byrd officiating. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the funeral home. Private burial will be held at Cleveland Memorial Park.
