Charles Mitchel Morrison, 90, of Shelby, NC, died Sunday, October 29, in Spartanburg, SC.

A native of Rutherford County NC, Charles was the son of the late Charles Ray and Elizabeth Wall Morrison.

Also preceding him in death were his wife of 64 years, Martha Blackburn Morrison; his son, Charles Mitchell Morrison, Jr.; one brother, James Morrison; and two sisters, Martha Yarborough and Betty Jones.

He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Morrison Kollmar, and her husband, Carl, of Spartanburg.

As a young man, Charles served his country in the U.S. Naval Reserve. As an adult, his career was in retail management, primarily in Shelby. After retirement, he was a volunteer with the American Red Cross and Shelby's community soup kitchen.

He was a dedicated member of John Knox Presbyterian Church in Shelby where he volunteered in various capacities for nearly 50 years.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 4 at 11 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Spartanburg with the Rev. Dale Rawlings officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the sanctuary.
