Charles Nubert McDaniel, Sr.

Charles Nubert McDaniel, Sr., 91, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, April 6, 2022, surrounded by his family.

He was the husband of 71 years to Mrs. Annie Virginia White McDaniel. Born in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late James Luther and Annie Irene Moss McDaniel. Known and loved for his blue eyes by Mrs. Annie, he was also known and loved for his smile, gentle spirit and love for his Savior, family, church and church family. Mr. Nubert especially enjoyed the children of the church, and they knew he loved them. He is also well known for his work ethic and integrity. He worked for over 30 years at Weavetec, here in Blacksburg, with a plant named in his honor, the Charles N. McDaniel Plant. Prior to being plant manager there, he worked at Wendell Fabrics. Displaying integrity and duty to country, he served in the US Army right after high school. He and his wife have been faithful members of Hopewell Baptist Church and he was a member of the Buffalo Masonic Lodge of Blacksburg as well. Mr. Nubert enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing and truly enjoyed and loved his family.

Cherishing his memory and legacy are his daughters, Dana M. Covington and her husband, William of Rock Hill, and Debra McDaniel of Blacksburg, his five grandchildren: Bobby Gene Collins Jr. (Dawne), Blacksburg, Shane M. Agnew (Lori), Willit, CA, Lisa Kelly (Joey), Blacksburg, Josh Jackson (Shannon), Gaffney and Jessica Moseley (Brian), Blacksburg as well as his 14 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Glenda McDaniel.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Charles N. McDaniel, Jr., daughter, Nita Kay McDaniel Garner, grandson, Jason Garner, brothers; Tommy McDaniel, Marvin McDaniel, sisters; Audrey McDaniel and Frances Little.

The family will receive friends, Saturday, April 9, 2022, 2:00- 2:50 PM at Hopewell Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3:00 PM at the church with Rev. Eddie Bolin officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Pallbearers serving are Ronnie McDaniel, Lloyd Victor Moss, Bobby Collins, Josh Jackson, Brian Moseley, Joey Kelly and Shane Agnew. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Ed Moss Sunday School Class of Hopewell Baptist Church.

The family wishes to express a very special thank you to the staff and nurses of Spartanburg Regional Hospice for the care and love Mr. Nubert, Mrs. Annie and the family have received and also deep gratitude and appreciation to Lloyd Victor Moss who also was a special caregiver to Mr. Nubert.
