Charles Ray Ramsey

Charles Ray Ramsey, 83, of Mooresboro, NC, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on January 4th, 2021 at the Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. Charles was born in Rutherford County on November 4th 1937 and was the youngest son of Roy and Fannie McGinnis Ramsey.

Charles was a graduate of Cliffside High School, where he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. He later served in the Army and was stationed in Germany. He exemplified a strong work ethic throughout his life, working at PPG Industries in Shelby and Cone Mills in Cliffside. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, and traveling with his family. Charles was an active member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and the Senior Men's Class.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Marianne Houser Ramsey; son, Tim Ramsey and wife, Phyllis of Charlotte, NC; son, Ray Ramsey and wife, Kelly of Shelby, NC; grandchildren: Parker Ramsey, Aaron Cleary, Sara Ramsey, Madison Ramsey, and Bailey Ramsey. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an adopted daughter, Angela Olsen; sisters: Gertrude Harrill and Macie Harris and five brothers: R.B. Ramsey, Guy Ramsey, Harry Ramsey, Hugh Ramsey, and Dewitt Ramsey.

Mr. Ramsey will be lying in state at Eggers Funeral Home in Cliffside, NC on Saturday, January 9th, 9am to 12pm. A grave side service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, January 9th at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery of Mooresboro with the Reverend Kevin Hamrick officiating.
