Charles Robert Conwell, Sr., 86, passed away Sunday October 30, 2022 at his home surrounded by family.

Born in Laurens County, SC on September 13, 1936, he was the son of the late George Willis Conwell and Ethelene Craft Conwell. In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his brother, William E. Conwell. Charles retired from Celanese Corporation after a long career as a supervisor. He will be remembered for his love for sports, golfing, and family.

Charles is survived by his wife, Betty Swafford Conwell, son Charles Robert Conwell, Jr. (Tammy), step-daughter Donna Southards, step-son Barry Hughes (Julia), two sisters, Dorothy Spencer and Georgia Davis, as well as, his four grandchildren Savannah Conwell, Andy Southards (Casey), Tyler Hughes (Tosha), Lexi Delozier (Rick) and three great grandchildren, Talon, Zeke, and Juliette Delozier.

A graveside service with military honors will be held 1:30PM Wednesday November 2, 2022 at Graceland Cemetery in Greenville, SC: 4814 White Horse Rd Greenville, SC 29611. The family will receive friends following the graveside service and other times at the home of Charles and Betty Conwell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Hospice Cleveland County: 951 Wendover Heights Drive Shelby, NC 28150.
