Charles Vestal Connor

Charles Vestal Connor, age 74, went to be with his lord and savior this November 18, 2012.  Charles Vestal is a native of Cleveland County.  After graduating from Shelby High School, he joined the Air Force and served his term until honorably discharged. He went on to work in the Insurance industry, as a successful sales person. He spent the rest of his working years doing what he loved best in his profession, Over the road trucking; he last worked for Gaines Motor Lines until retirement.

 

Charles lived first and foremost for family, selflessly, and all in pursuit of their happiness and fullness of life. His best time was spent entertaining family and friends by sharing life stories, full of endless jokes and precious laughter.  He never met a stranger and would share his home to any in need.  His smile and the sound of his laughter will be sorely missed. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Helen Margie Connor.  Also surviving are his children Sherrie, Shellie, Candie and Casie Connor, and son Charlie Connor, all of the home; Step-son William B . Wagner, and wife Susie of Monroe, NC. Brothers Harold Dean Connor and wife Frances of Wessely Chapel, Florida,  Boyce Eugene (Butch) Connor of Shelby, NC and Gary Wayne Connor and wife Phyllis, of
Shelby NC; sister Doris Connor Warlick of Lawndale, NC.  Daughter-in-Law, Judy Wagner; Grandchildren Kelly Beebe (husband Jim), Billy Wagner (wife Latanya), Charles Malone Wagner, Christopher Bivins, Cameron Johnson, along with many cherished grandchildren.   He was the best son, brother, father, and grandfather.  He was his family’s greatest blessing.

Preceding Charles in death are: Mother Lula Oleen White Connor, Father Charles Boyce Connor, Step-Children Jerry Malone Wagner, Thomas Michael Wagner, grandson Michael Malone Wagner, and great-granddaughter Abigail Wagner.

Celebration of life Service: 10:00 AM Wednesday at Cecil Burton Funeral and Chapel.  Interment afterward.
