Charles William Weaver

Charles William Weaver, 93, a loving patriarch, passed away Sunday, February 25th ,2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Charles was born in Cleveland County on October 14, 1930 the son of the late Phillip Paul Weaver and Carrie McGinnis Weaver. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Sue Weaver, son Phil Weaver, granddaughter Wendy Jamison, great grandson Alex Jamison, and sisters Nellie "Dude" McCoy, Eva Clary, Mary Sue "Pete" Humphries, Gertrude Davis, and Frances Whitworth.

Charles was a devoted Christian and longtime member of Buffalo Baptist Church of Shelby, where he served as a Deacon for many years, Sunday School teacher, Bible Study teacher, Care team member, Young at Heart member, and served on the hostess team. He was known to truly have the gift of serving others. He was also a member of Triple L of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

He retired from Dover Yarn at 62 and then went to work helping his family, friends, and pretty much everyone with practically everything. He was a "jack of all trades" and would figure out how to fix anything. Everyone that knew him knew they could count on him to help with anything.

He will be remembered most for his love of the outdoors, particularly fishing. He also enjoyed hunting, playing softball, bowling, camping, and family vacations. He was a Boy Scoutmaster for many years. His quick wit and sense of humor will also be greatly missed. He always had a quick humorous comeback that brought laughter to all.

Charles is survived by his children Ricky (Debbie) Weaver of Shelby, Terry (Joel) Milam of Rocky Point, Bill (Lisa) Weaver of Shelby, Kathy Weaver of Cherryville. Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren Danielle (Scott) Whitaker, Nichole (Andy) Hamrick, Sharon (Jason) Payne, Elizabeth (Trent) Newton, Ryan Weaver, Zachary (Jessica) Milam, Ben Milam, Angel (Phillip) Queen, Dusty Mode, Thomas (Chrissy) Weaver, and Nicholas Weaver. He was also blessed with his great grandchildren, Phillip Jamison, Daniel Whitaker, Hailey Hamrick, Eliza Hamrick, Anais Hamrick, Spencer (Destiny) Payne, Skylar Payne, Charlie Newton, Riley Milam, Reagan Milam, Kai Queen, Jackson Queen, Xander Weaver, great-great granddaughter Ruby Payne and many loving nieces, nephews and relatives.

The family would like to extend special thanks to his long-term caregiver Cynthia Littljohn, other caregivers Mallory Baker and Theresa Benjamin, and hospice nurse Joanie Mabry.

Memorial donations may be made in his memory to VIA Health Partners founded as Hospice Cleveland County: 951 Wendover Heights Dr, Shelby, NC 28150.

A celebration of life service will be held 3:00PM Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Buffalo Baptist Church with Rev. Dustin Mace and Rev. Macky Turner officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at 2:00pm prior to the service.
