Charlotte Ann Severt Stinnett

Charlotte Ann Severt Stinnett, age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Peak Resources in Cherryville, North Carolina.

Born on March 3, 1936, in Ashe County, North Carolina, Charlotte was the daughter of the late Barney Barton Severt and Maude Blanche Hurley Severt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jon Mac Stinnett; her brother, Wayne Severt; and her sister, Shirley James.

Charlotte was a graduate of Beaver Creek High School and a lifelong member of Elizabeth Baptist Church in Shelby, where she faithfully served and found great joy in singing in the church choir. Known affectionately as "Granny," Charlotte deeply cherished her family and was a devoted and loving presence in their lives. She enjoyed spending time with friends, tending to her yard, and enthusiastically supporting her family at sporting events.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Stinnett; her son, Matt Stinnett (Meredith); and her grandchildren: Josh Crotts (Myia), Jason Crotts (Mary), Jake Stinnett (Danielle), Natalie Stinnett ( Fiancé and Granny's favorite Timmy), Charlotte Stinnett, and Emory Stinnett. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Caleb, Zeke, Evan, and Zane Crotts; Malachi Stinnett; and Syla Stinnett. Additionally, she leaves behind her siblings: Pat Goss, Myrtle Worley, Chuck Severt (Ellen), and Debbie Jones (Jimmy), along with a host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Elizabeth Baptist Church in Shelby, with Rev. Dr. Rit Varriale officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary. Burial will be held privately in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan's Purse or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
