Christine "Chris" Thompson
Christine "Chris" Thompson, age 76, of W.V. Thompson Road, Rutherfordton, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Chris was born September 18, 1942 in Old Fort, NC to the late Rob Calvert and Carrie Clontz Horn. She served with her husband as a pastor's wife for over fifty years and worked as a Licensed Massage Therapist for over thirty years. She worked at the Pinewood School of Massage and at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center before retiring and was also the former owner of Thompson Timber Enterprises. Chris was known as a loving, caring and giving person. Her giving spirit motivated her to give over one hundred items on a weekly basis to the Green Hill VFW Post #74 food pantry. She showed God's love to each person she met.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Audrey Calvert, Edith Mae Hensley, Lorrene Stewart and two brothers, Dewey Lee Calvert and Clifford Edward Stewart.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of sixty-three years, Reverend Billy Thompson; daughter, Anne Thompson (Jerry) of Chesnee, SC; son, Wayne Thompson of Rutherfordton; six grandchildren, Jeremy Gossett (Monica)of Inman, SC, Tina Gossett Williams (Michael) of Chesnee, Travis Thompson (Paula) of Ellenboro, Troyia Thompson (Joni) of Rutherfordton, Daniel Thompson of Rutherfordton and Christopher Thompson of Ellenboro; eight great-grandchildren, Brittany Gossett of Nashville, Blake Williams of Chesnee, Makayla Williams of Chesnee, Kendall Gossett of Inman, Nate Thompson of Ellenboro, Nora Thompson of Ellenboro, Treyton Thompson of Rutherfordton and Tinslee Thompson of Rutherfordton. She is also survived by a special neighbor, Chuck Warner; a special angel friend Wanda Harris of Ellenboro and Wanda's grandchildren who held a special place in Chris' heart, MacKenna, Jade, Paige, Ariah, Ariel, Adam, Lily and Cierra. Christine was an animal lover and is survived by a life-long pet dog and friend "Brownie" and her horse "Lightning."
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Clay Collins officiating. Interment will follow in the Thompson Family Cemetery with Reverend Trent Watson and Reverend Chris Bucey in charge of the Committal service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
