Cindy Hord Clark

Cindy Hord Clark, born on November 3, 1957, in Cleveland County, NC, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

At the age of 68, she departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Cindy's life was defined by her deep love for Jesus and her servant's heart. She was a passionate and lifelong Carolina Tarheels fan, often folding laundry during games to maintain her calm. Her energy and vibrant spirit were infectious, whether she was singing her favorite hymns, shopping for her beloved pocketbooks, or cheering on her grandkids at their sporting events.

Cindy dedicated her career to nurturing young minds as a daycare director, where her warmth and care impacted countless children. Her love for kids extended far beyond her professional life, as she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren. All about her grandbabies, she found immense joy in being present in their lives, whether through play, support, or simply being their biggest fan.

A member of Liberty Baptist Church, Cindy was a beacon of faith and service to her community. Her energetic nature and ability to connect with others made her a cherished presence in the lives of those who knew her.

Preceded in death by her parents, Everette Hord and Doris Devon, Cindy leaves behind a family that adored her immensely. She is survived by her beloved husband, Kevin Clark; her son, Jonathan Darnell, and his wife Lindsey Darnell; her daughter, Amy Emery, and her husband Matt Emery; her sister, Patti Lankford, and her husband JD Lankford. Her cherished grandchildren, Parker Emery, Gracie Emery, Josie Kate Darnell, Jett Darnell, Jack Darnell, and honorable nephew/grandchild Wyatt Lankford, will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

Cindy's life will be celebrated in a funeral service at Liberty Baptist Church in Ellenboro on Thursday, August 20th, at 5:00 pm. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 pm in the gym at the church, with burial immediately following the service.

In honoring Cindy, we remember her as a woman of inspiration and love, whose bright spirit and boundless devotion left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
