Civil Air Patrol Cadet Chloe Patterson receives Wright Brothers Award

Congratulations to Chloe Patterson, thirteen years old who attends Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy and was awarded the Wright Brothers Award on Tuesday, April 26th, 2017 at the Shelby Civil Air Patrol Squadron. When asked what she has gained from being enrolled in the Civil Air patrol program Chloe said she has learned the value of how to help others, interact with others, learn leadership skills, and learning how to overcome her own fears. She is a remarkable cadet and we are looking forward to seeing what else she accomplishes in the near future.
The Civil Air Patrol is a non profit youth organization designed to expose youth to several skills including aerospace education, team building, leadership and more. These youth also help serve the citizens and their communities. They have a series of tests, physical fitness, and drill accomplishments that must be met as they promote in different ranks. The first major milestone is phase I in which at completion the cadet is awarded with the Wright Brothers Award. The award was named after Orville and Wilber Wright the first men to achieve powered, controlled, and sustained 'heavier than air flight'.
