Claude Haywood “Jackie” Brown

Mr. Claude Haywood “Jackie” Brown, 61, of 1010 Fallston Rd., Shelby, NC left this earthly life on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, NC.  A native of Cleveland County, NC, he was the son of the late Ruby Guyton Adams and Crowley Wardell Smith.

 “Jackie” as he was affectionately known was a 1970 graduate of Crest High School.  After graduating, he served in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam Era.

He was employed with J & C Dye Company as a supervisor for many years.

 “Jackie” will be remembered for his leadership spirit and for being a kindhearted, energetic, uplifting and very determined person.


Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Janet Pass Brown of Shelby; a daughter, Tandra Lynette Marable of Grover, NC; a step-son, Maurice Darby (Denise) of Shelby; two grandchildren, Antionette and Tuvarous Marable; two step-grandchildren, Kierra and Maurice Darbey, Jr.; six brothers, Joyce Dean Young (Delores) of Kings Mountain, NC, Eddie Adams (Elaine) of Gaffney, SC, Vance Hopper (Georgia) of Shelby, Crawley Smith, Jr. (Sophie) of Ohio, Jerry Adams of Cowpens, SC and Paul Adams of Lexington, NC; five sisters, Laura Rudisill (Charles) of Shelby, Cathy Holt (Jonathon) of Lexington, NC, Donna Lynn Strong (Jimmy) also of Lexington, Monica Estes (Martin) of Durham, NC and Mamie Adams of Charlottesville, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.

 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Hopper’s Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Coleman officiating.  Interment will take place at the N.C. Veterans State Cemetery in Salisbury, NC.  The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:00 PM at the church on Monday and at other times at the home of his daughter, Tandra Marable, 129 Mullinex Drive in Grover.  Condolences can be expressed online at www.enloes.net.
