Claude S Cobb, Sr.

Blacksburg -- Claude S Cobb, Sr., 88, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 23rd, 2018 at his home surrounded by family.

Born in Clinton, SC, he was the loving husband of Alice R. Cobb for 59 years and the son of the late John Russell and Mae Hardin Cobb. He retired from Cherokee Finishing in Gaffney after 40 years. He served in the Korean War in the 606th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron.

He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Blacksburg.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Claude Cobb, Jr., and fiance', DeeGee Parker, and Tommy Cobb; a daughter, Suzy McLean and husband, David, all of Blacksburg; three grandchildren, Lexi and Caitlin Cobb and Russell McLean; and a sister, Frances C. Owen, of Charlotte, NC. Mr. Cobb was preceded in death by five brothers, Maj. Harold Cobb, John D. Cobb, Paul Cobb, Col. Robert H. Cobb, James E. Cobb, and one sister, Virginia C. Wilson.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, May 25th at Gordon Mortuary in Blacksburg. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 26th at Mountain View Cemetery in Blacksburg with Rev. Don Boshell officiating.

Pallbearers are Claude Cobb, Jr., Tommy Cobb, David McLean, Russell McLean, Bill Parker, and Timmy Wylie. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Agner, Richard Hope, Hal Howington, and Mickey Moss.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Epworth Children's Home, PO Box 50466, Columbia, SC 29250 or Hospice Compassus, 212 E. Floyd Baker Bouldvard, Gaffney, SC 29340.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Hospice Compassus for all their love, support, and compassion.
