Clayton Prater, 80, of Grover, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Testa Hospice House, Kings Mountain.

Born in Floyd County, Kentucky, on July 25, 1939, he was the son of the late Callie H. Prater and Edith Holbrook Prater. He was retired from Fasco Industries and served in the US Army.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Elizabeth Stringfellow Prater; two daughters, Rhonda Williams of Ironton, Ohio and Karen Schwendau of Byron, Illinois; a stepson, David Ross of Gastonia; two stepdaughters, Patty Ross and Darla Wyatt both of Shelby; two sisters, Ethel Thompson of Warsaw, Indiana and Bethel Barth of Milford, Indiana; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandson and numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
