Cleveland Community College Instructor Receives Distinguished Service Award
CCC English Instructor, Barbara Taylor has been awarded the 2010 Doster Distinguished Service Award by the Two-Year College English Association. Named in honor of William “Bill” Doster, the award is given annually to an individual showing evidence of significantly aiding the growth and visibility of the TYCA-SE organization and promoting its positive image. Mrs. Taylor has been teaching English at CCC for 36 years and received the Excellence in Teaching Award twice during this time. She has also served as an advisor for the Gamma Beta Phi National Honor Society, receiving the Gamma Beta Phi Certificate of Merit and served as president for the national organization for three years. She is also a member of CEI-Association of North Carolina English Instructors where she served as membership chair for western North Carolina as well as Co-program coordinator for the 2009 convention. Mrs. Taylor is currently a PhD. candidate at Indiana University and holds a Masters in Arts degree from Appalachian University and Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi University for Women.
