Cleveland County Memorial Library and Friends of the Library presents...
Shelby Science Fiction & Fantasy
Author Festival coming April 1, 2017

The Cleveland County Memorial Library and the Friends of the Library are very excited to present the Shelby Science Fiction & Fantasy Author Festival on April 1, 2017 from 1:30pm until 4pm. Twelve local science fiction and fantasy writers are coming to our Shelby library for a panel discussion and a book signing.
We have a fantastic variety of authors within the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre attending this event. There will be something for everyone; thrillers, speculative fiction, horror, young adult, adventure, steampunk, and urban fantasy.
Jake Bible has written a zombie series, set in Asheville, NC, where life goes on even after the dead rise. Samantha Bryant's superheroes are ladies who receive their powers in the prime of their lives. A.J. Hartley is the New York Times bestselling author of 15 novels and a professor at UNC Charlotte. John Hartness writes comedic horror, dark fantasy and urban fantasy. Stuart Jaffee fills the bill for a good blend of old fashioned pulp adventure with a modern touch. Dr. Darin Kennedy heals people by day and writes contemporary fantasy by night. Dystopian with a touch of noir and sass, describes Nichole Givens Kurtz's private investigator heroine, Cybil Lewis. Gail Z. Martin writes epic sci-fi and steampunk. Misty Massey is known for her rollicking adventures on the high seas. Edward McKeown is known for his urban fantasy works. Nancy North Cott combines high stakes, action and romance in her speculative fiction series. The Brides of Dracula come to life in author J. Matthew Saunders trilogy, Daughters of Shadow and Blood.
This is a fundraiser for the library; admission is $5 with children under 10 free. Ticket presales begin at the library on March 8th. All funds raised will benefit library programs. Snacks will also be available for purchase. The panel discussion will run from 1:30 until 2:30 then sales and autographs begin. Each author will have their books available for purchase on the spot.
