Click Dellinger, 75 of Cherryville, NC passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Born on September 25, 1943 in Gaston County to the late Thomas Henry and Maude Jane Jenks Dellinger, he was the 12th of 15 children and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Cherryville.
Click attended Cherryville and Waco schools and at the age of 14 began his first job with Hoyle Construction working for Norris, Bud and Ralph Hoyle, followed by PPG. He married Alice Rudisill in October of 1964 and began a 22 year career with Carolina Freight Carriers in the printing department. He later started his own business and owned and operated Dellinger Printing and Dellinger Builders for many years.
Clicks life revolved around his wife, three daughters, grandchildren and great grandchild. His amazing sense of humor, compassion and support for others was always his focus. His creative gift for music however is truly his legacy. He was self-taught, playing rhythm guitar, mandolin, piano and singing. He played in numerous country, rock and bluegrass bands and formed the Original "Shakers" band in 1964. Love of music, riding and showing horses with his three girls provided many opportunities for lifelong friendships.
He is preceded in death his parents Tom and Maude Dellinger, brothers, Jenks and Harry Dellinger; sisters, Louise Hoyle, Betty Neal, JoAnn Houser, Jill Reynolds, Shirley Houser, Ruby Keever; and special nephew, Roger Neal.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Alice Rudisill Dellinger; Daughters, Kim Harrill of Cherryville, Amy Dellinger of Charlotte , Trudie Homesley and husband Kelly of Cherryville; Son in law Johnny Harrill of Cherryville, Grandchildren , Jess Harrill of Florida, Dayne and Allie Kay Homesley;Cole Harrill and fiancé Taylor Beer all of Cherryville, one great-grandchild Ashlynn Grace Harrill; and his beloved siblings; Gary Dellinger, Jack Dellinger, Carolyn Camp, Frankie Bess, and Gay Ramsey.
A Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 2:00 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Ben Kifer and Dr. David Keck officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, October 5, 2018 at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services from 6:00 until 8:30 PM.
