Comilla “Mill” Lee Withrow Sinkler

Mrs. Comilla “Mill” Lee Withrow Sinkler, 90, formerly of 516 Monroe Street in Shelby departed this life on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Alexandria Place Nursing Home in Gastonia, NC.  She was born on July 11, 1922 in Hollis, NC to the late Sherman and Amanda Houser Withrow.

 

Comilla was a faithful member of Durham United Methodist Church in Shelby, NC.  After 10 years of service, Comilla retired from Hoechst Celanese Corps, only to begin a new career with the NC Service for the Blind.

 

Comilla loved to sew, making and altering clothes for family and friends.  In addition, she enjoyed upholstering furniture and working in her flower bed.  She was a regular at Cleveland Technical College taking classes in upholstery shop, machine shop and assistant nursing training.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow “Jake” Sinkler; a great-grandson, Yamil Calvin Sinkler; her brothers, Henry Withrow (Rossie), Van Withrow (Henrietta), Zan Withrow, Glenn Withrow (Vernell), Clarence Withrow (Bettye) and Carl Withrow and two sisters, Frances Withrow and Minnie Bell (Rufus).

 

Left to cherish her memory are one son, Glenn Sinkler (Janet) of Winston-Salem, NC; a daughter, Roslyn Sinkler (Harry) of Belmont, NC; a sister, Helen Love (Carl) of Shelby; a “special” brother, Joe Hunt (Mary) of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Jamilah “Ari” Sinkler of Belmont, NC, Leonittra Moore (Adam) of Columbia, SC and Jamarr Ingram of Wilmington, NC; a greatgrandson, Azariah Moore; an additional brother-in-law, Manning “Stick” Sinkler (Novella) of Shelby; three sisters-in-law, Louise Muldrow (Preacher) of Darlington, SC, Emily Withrow of Shelby and Anita Withrow of Raleigh, NC and a host of special nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Lawndale with Rev. Billy Houze officiating and Pastor Aldana Allen delivering the eulogy.  Burial will take place at Webb Memorial Lawns.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM on Saturday and at other times at the home of her sister, Helen Love, 518 April Drive, Shelby.
