Cornerstone Baptist Church Celebrates 15 Years
Anna drops some change in the mission box during the Church service.
Cornerstone Baptist Church was founded on June 1,1997. It began in the old Bob’s Seafood restaurant building in Mooresboro. There were just four people at the first services: Pastor Bo Wagner, his wife Dana along with Paul and Margaret Lemon. The pastor and his wife knocked on doors and continued with a little help to build membership. In 2004 the congregation had grown big enough to support the purchase of fourteen and a half acres near their original location, on top of the hill. Estimates for a new church building and clearing the land was $1.3 million. The church could not afford that, so the members decided to do it themselves. They cleared the land, did the grading, drew up the plans, ordered the materials, got approval from zoning and an environmental permit, then began the project. It was June 7, 2004. Four years later, in 2008, the new Cornerstone Baptist Church held their first services. The total cost was $340,000. The church now has over 150 families. Pastor Bo and his wife, Dana, also now have three children, a boy and two girls - Caleb, 12, Karis, 10 and Alethia, 9. On Sunday, June 3rd a fifteen year anniversary celebration was held with a luncheon and services at 12 noon. Guest preacher was Pastor Tom Fields. Afterwards, there were games and softball prior to the evening services at 4 p.m. with guest Preacher Jonathan Gregory. It was also announced that the church’s newest project would be the construction of a fellowship hall. Once again, the congregation will come together to build it. The church testimony is: “Expect Great Things From God - Attempt Great Things For God!”  At 4537 W. Dixon Boulevard in Mooresboro (Hwy. 74 bypass), great things continue to happen.
