Cornerstone Dental Associates staff presented a check for $500 to representatives from Washington Outreach Ministry on Wednesday, July 5th, 2017 as part of their year-round "Cornerstone Cares" campaign to benefit area non-profits.
"Cornerstone Dental Associates is committed to our patients and the communities where they reside. By having our staff participate in a year of giving, we hope that we can have a big impact in the community," explains Dr. Kendalyn Lutz-Craver.
Each quarter, groups of Cornerstone Dental Associates staff are given $500 and they choose a local non-profit to support. "This is our third quarter of "Cornerstone Cares". Not only is it a way for us to give back to our community, but it has allowed us to bring awareness to the needs of our community and local non-profits," added Dr. Sarah Karner.
This quarter, staff members Nicole Bell, Heather Watts, Lacey Tindall, Hope Weaver, and Melissa Guy, chose Washington Outreach Ministry as their "Cornerstone Cares" recipient.
"We wanted to give to an organization that addressed children's needs in the community. We did some research online and found Washington
Outreach Ministries," explained Hope Weaver, Hygiene Coordinator. "They have a food pantry year-round and during the Summer, they offer a free camp for kids where nutritious meals and snacks are provided. That may be the only meal those kids get all day."
Washington Outreach Ministry mission is to build confidence and love of learning, giving students a solid foundation for a healthy and happy life.
Washington Outreach Ministry's Executive Director, Frances Webber, shared, "Our plans are to invest in our summer feeding camp that we host every summer. This is our seventh year. This will help us tremendously because we usually have a deficit at the end of the summer."
The summer camp runs for nine straight weeks from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday - Friday. They are located right next to Washington elementary school in Shelby, NC.
