Coy Leroy Self, 86 of David's Chapel Church Road, Lawndale passed away on Monday, August 10,2026 at Terra Bella in Shelby.



Coy was born on September 17, 1939 in Lincoln County to the late Ernest Lee Self and Laura Minnie Brittain Self. He was retried from ABF and was a member of David's Chapel Church.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Louise Alexander Self; three brothers, Michael Self, Gene Self and Bobby Self and two sisters, Merle Rhoney and Coleen Boston.



Survivors include his two sons, Ricky Self and wife, Susan of Lawndale; Mark Self and wife, Lynn of Lawndale; four grandchildren, Adrian Cloninger, Eric Self and wife, Chelsea, Melissa Self, Matthew Self and wife, Yolanda and five great-grandchildren, Aniston Cloninger, Harper Cloninger, Maddex Self, Ella Self and Hadley Self; two brothers, David Self of Shelby and Farrell Self of Cherryville; four sisters, Sandy Leatherman of Lincolnton, Nell Baker of Conover, Joann Starnes of Hickory and Judy Lovelace of Shelby.



The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 15, 2026 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at David's Chapel Church Fellowship Hall.



A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 3:00pm at David's Chapel Church with Rev. Forrestene Sain officiating.



Burial will follow at David's Chapel Church Cemetery.



The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Terra Bella for the care and kindness that was shown to Mr. Self.
