Crest High Welding Students Win Over $3000 In Contests
Three Crest High School seniors recently participated in several welding competitions and earned thousands of dollars in tuition costs.
Cody Bridges, Michael English, and Garrett Hardin competed at Tulsa Welding School in Jacksonville, Florida on March 16th, 2013.  All three students won scholarships in amounts of $500 and above.  Some of the activities invloved in the competition involved welding in all positons with the SMAW process.
Following the contest in Florida, Michael English competed in the Skills USA state welding contest in Greensboro, North Carolina and received an additional $500 scholarship.
All three students also competed in the Tulsa Welding contest at Tuscola High School in Waynesville, North Carolina on May 11th, 2013.  Michael English placed fifth  and Garrett Hardin placed fourth. They both received an additional $500 toward tuition. Cody Bridges placed third and won twenty-five percent of his tuition.
Wes Stevens, welding instructor at Crest, commented “As the welding instructor here at Crest High School it makes me proud of these young men. It’s exciting to watch your students take what you have taught them, put it to use and take charge of their future. Way to go men!”
