Dana Wayne Ross, Sr.

Dana Wayne Ross, Sr., of Shelby, NC, transitioned from this life on Monday, July 22, 2024.

He was born on March 5, 1953, the oldest child of the late Hershell James and Doris Huskey Ross.
He graduated from Crest High School in 1971 where he is remembered as an avid and talented athlete, excelling in football, baseball, and track & field. In 1975. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Data Processing
from Gardner Webb University. He later attained a Master of Science in Human Resources
Management from Golden Gate University in San Francisco,CA in 1988. Dana served honorably in the Air Force as an Acquisition Officer for 18 years, with assignments
in Guam, Ohio, Virginia, and Nevada, before retiring. In addition to his military service, he also
worked for Kemet Industries, PPG Industries, Sears Holdings, retiring from Allstate Insurance
Company in 2012.
Dana was a principled and respectable man, known for his positive attitude, consistent reliability, and caring nature. He took service to others seriously and was a compassionate individual. Dana took on many cherished hobbies, many of which were centered around helping and serving others. In 1995, he founded "The Fourth R," providing computer training to children and adults. As a lover of baseball, he played for the Holly Oak Colts and took pride in Above all else, Dana cherished his family. He loved being "Dad" and "Paw-Paw," and nothing
brought him more joy than spending time with his loved ones. His children and grandchildren
were his heart, and he always made himself available to them, willing to do anything for them.
Whether it was attending their sports events, helping with school projects, or just offering a
listening ear, Dana was a constant presence in their lives. His unwavering support and boundless love created a strong family bond that will be cherished forever. Dana's legacy of love and dedication to his family will live on through the many lives he touched.
Left to carry his legacy are his three sons, Jerome and Jermaine, and Wayne, Jr.; two daughters, Cherie and Lindsey Wiley (Marshall) ; ten grandchildren; one brother, Ronnie G. Ross of the home; one sister, Stephanie L. Ross; three nephews; two aunts, Kay Dawkins of Shelby, NC, and Tina Moore(Dale); his former wife, Patricia Ross, and a host of
cousins and wonderful friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024 at Shoal Creek Baptist Church, Shelby, NC at 1:30 p.m. Burial will take place at the church.
