Daniel Alton Denkler

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Alton Denkler on October 12th 2024, at the age of 77.

Dan will forever leave a lasting impression on those who were blessed to share life's journey with him. Loving Dad, Pop - Pop's, Son, Brother, Uncle, and friend. Dan was proceeded in death by his father, Roy Theodore Denkler and mother, Clara Johnson Denkler. His brother Thomas Roy Denkler and nephew Thomas Roy Denkler Jr, as well as, many other loved ones.

While his absence will leave profound gaps in our hearts, we are comforted that he has found peace in reuniting with them.

Beloved father, he is survived by daughter, Erin Denkler Marley, husband Jeff, and granddaughter Betsy; daughter, Lydia Denkler Roberts, husband Brandon, grandchildren Bentley and Amelia; daughter, Sara Johanna Denkler; and son, John Michael Denkler and wife Amanda.

Cherished brother, he is survived by his loving sisters, Barbara Hargis and Cathy Scott. He was the fun loving "Uncle Danny" to his nieces and nephews.

Born in January 19, 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky he lived a childhood full of love and goodness. He grew up a few miles from the iconic Churchill Downs and developed a passion for learning as a child.

Dan satisfied this innate curiosity for learning everything he could about Mathematic and obtained both his Bachelor's and Masters in Business Administration at the University of Louisville.

He was a devoted fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats and would cheer with zeal for his favorite team, no matter the season. He treasured afternoons with his son watching UK games.

He was an intensely competitive chess genius and often made up words in Scrabble. He loved long conversations filled with ideas and laughter.

An avid reader, with a deep interest in Civil War History, he was always up for a good debate or diving into life's biggest questions.

Dan was a man of faith and a follower of Christ. Later in life, he reconnected with the values that shaped his faith as a child.

His marriage of 19 years lead to his greatest life adventure. Daddy was immensely proud of his children and took great joy in the lives of his grandchildren.

His children will forever treasure the unwavering love he brought into our lives. His never ending wet kisses and lingering hugs, laughter, words of wisdom and playful antics. These memories will forever guide us towards a life rich in love for each other.
