Daphine Eunice Hamrick, age 96 of Shelby, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby.

She is survived by her son, Nicky Hamrick (Mickie) of Shelby, NC, four grandchildren, Clint McMurry, Kelly Taylor (Logan), Eric McMurry, and Joel Shores, four great grandchildren, Addain McMurry, Maellee McMurry, Joscelinn McMurry, and Lochlain McMurry, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born December 13, 1926 in Cleveland County, NC, Daphine was the daughter of the late Wesley and Ida Callahan and was preceded in death by her husband, JM Hamrick, a daughter, Debra McMurry, a brother, Loarn Callahan, and five sisters, Irene Green, Minnie Winn, Beatrice Wheellus, Betty Mauney Gantt, and Barbara Thornburg.

Daphine enjoyed traveling across the United States. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and friends. Daphine was a faithful member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Friday, May 26, 2023 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. A visitation will be held from 10:00am - 11:00am prior to the service at the church. A burial will follow in the church cemetery.
