| Darcilla Jean Carpenter, 81, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at home. A native of Cleveland County she was the daughter of the late Marion Hugh and Ruby Huss Carpenter. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles M Carpenter and David Carpenter and a sister, Becky Hyslop. Miss Carpenter was an active member of First Baptist Church where she was a faithful volunteer of the church ministry, member of the women’s circle and member of the Lib Holleman Sunday school class. Darcilla enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and was a stickler for the use of proper English. She was a dear friend to all who knew and loved her.
Miss Carpenter is survived by her sister-in-law, Gennie Lutz Carpenter; 7 nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Sunset Cemetery. The Rev. Perry Holleman will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service. At other times the family will be at the home of Jennifer Drum, 1011 Caldwell Circle in Shelby.
Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family of Miss Carpenter.
