David Lee Tucker

David Lee Tucker, 79, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020 after an extended illness of cancer.

He was born in Toledo, Ohio to the late Robert and Ruth Tucker. Dave was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Grayson and Georgia Ross Early, five brothers-law, two sisters-in-law, many relatives and friends.

He graduated from North Adams, Michigan High School in 1958 and attended Grand Rapids Baptist Bible school for one year. After college he joined the Air Force, spent 16 months working on missiles in Germany, came home married Joyce then they spent 15 more months in Germany. After returning home Dave worked as a farmer, railroad worker, insurance salesman, Steiner salesman, trucker and airline pilot for several cargo airlines. He was a John Deere lover and collected many toy tractors. He enjoyed pulling in tractor pulls, spending time with his family Kent, Vern, and foster daughter, Rocky. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren who referred to him as "papa". Dave belonged to the First Baptist Church of North Adams, Michigan for many years where he served as deacon, youth leader and many other jobs in the church. He supported missions.

He also attended North Newton Baptist Church for many years where his brother-in-law, Tom Early was pastor. He was very active there also.

David is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joyce Early Tucker; children Kent (Tammy) of Southport, NC, Vern (Cathy) of Alexis,NC, foster daughter Rocky of California; three grandchildren, Brittany Tucker Kennedy (Caleb) of South Carolina, Michael and Matthew Tucker of Michigan, two sisters, Jan Martin (Al) of Michigan, Betty Anne Keeling of Michigan and Arizona: three brothers, John (Julie) of Michigan, Jim (Terri) of Michigan, Tim (Sunni) of Arizona, many aunts, uncles. nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be November 7th, 2020 at 1:00 pm service at 2:00 pm at Harris Funeral Home, 108 South Piedmont Ave. Kings Mountain, NC. Burial will follow at the Mountain Rest cemetery on the Early plot. Pastor Tom Early and Caleb Kennedy will officiat at the service and burial.
