Youth-serving agencies and organizations in Cleveland County are invited to compete in the Decorated Hay Bale Contest at the 2015 Cleveland County Fair.
The purpose of the contest is to engage progressive youth programs in showcasing agriculture and beautifying the Cleveland County Fairgrounds... and to reward winning entries with cash prizes.

Guidelines:
The Contest is open to all youth-serving programs/organizations in Cleveland County, but competition will be limited to the first ten (10) exhibitors who call the Cleveland County Fair at 704-487-0651 to reserve their bale. Deadline for entry is September 16, 2015. Call now. Bales are limited!
All entries must be produced by the youth members of the sponsoring organization. Adult representatives may only supervise and assist youth in the performance of work.
The Cleveland County Fair will provide one round bale for each participating organization to decorate. These 10 bales will be placed in various locations around the fairgrounds, and must be decorated on-site. Some bales will be located on grass, while others may be located on pavement. No paint may be applied to pavement.
Decorated hay bales must be agriculture themed (farm animals, crops, produce, barn, equipment, etc.). Bales can be decorated lying on their side or standing on end, and may be painted or decorated in line with the theme. Paint and applied decorations must be rain/wind proof. Additional items may be displayed around the bale, permitting they are weatherproof, contribute to the overall theme, and do not extend more than 3 feet from the base of the round bale.
Bales must be accompanied by an attractive weatherproof sign identifying the sponsoring organization (this sign will be obscured during judging).
Entries will be judged on eye appeal, construction, use of materials and creativity. Decisions of judges are final.
No commercial or political party signs or copyrighted materials of any kind are allowed in conjunction with the display.
Any decorations, signs, etc. remaining after posted removal day are subject to disposal.
Premiums: 1st Place - $150; 2nd Place - $75
Entry Day: Bales will be available for decoration on Monday, September 28 from 9 AM until 7 PM.
Removal Day: Bales may be disassembled on Monday, October 12 from 3-7 PM.
