Delmas Archie Bennick, Sr.

RUTHERFORDTON - Delmas Archie Bennick, Sr. age 65, received his wings on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Greenville Memorial Hospital in South Carolina. Born in Rutherford County on October 11, 1953, he was the son of the late Kenneth Floyd and Vivian Josephine Crain Bennick.

Delmas was a free spirit and played by his own rules. He did not need material processions to make him happy, just being outdoors and having his children and soulmate, Mary by his side, which was his freedom. Delmas was a humble man who possessed a caring and giving nature, he was the one that would stop if you were broke down on the side of the road, if he found you walking would offer you a ride, and many times would give you his last dollar.

In addition to his parents, Delmas is predeceased by his wife and soulmate, Mary Ellen Terry Bennick; a son, Delmas Bennick Jr. and a brother, Floyd Bennick

Left to cherish his memories are a daughter, Joyce Parker of Forest City; a son, Dale Bennick of Cliffside; grandchildren, Shellie Lamica Avant of Ellenboro, Lindsey Lamica Brewer and husband Andrew of Rutherfordton, Kaydrien Lamica of Forest City, Gabriel Parker of Mooresboro, Mickela Bennick of Kentucky and Bryson Sipes of Florida; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Ted Bennick and wife Diane and Neal Bennick and wife Edith all of Rutherfordton; three sisters, Linda Marriquin and husband Gregorio, Gale Flynn and Leonard Head of Forest City, and Venita Hill of Rutherfordton; sister-in-law, Brenda Terry Hardin and husband Mike of Ellenboro and Kathy Peacock and husband Larry of Chesnee, SC and a host of loving nieces and nephews that he loved like his own.

To Celebrate his love of the outdoors, a potluck gathering will be held at the home of Ida and Joseph Buchanan, 438 Bostic Road, Forest City NC. on Sunday, March 3, 2019 from 2:00pm until 5:00pm Bring a dish and a chair.
