Delores Marlene Ledford, age 82, died Wednesday, December 26, 20218 at White Oak in Shelby. Born in McDowell County on October 20, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Frank Saxon and Helen Greenlee Gray Ledford. She retired from Glasco Cline Pharmaceuticals of Raleigh and then Delores became employed as a secretary at the State Legislature where she retired again after 15 years of service. Delores was blessed with a beautiful soprano voice which she shared through her participation in her church choir and various choral groups. She was a member of St. Marks Episcopal church in Raleigh where she enjoyed being part of their choir.

Ms. Ledford is survived by two brothers, George Ledford and wife Peggy of Grover, and Francis "Frank" Ledford and wife Lynn of Shelby; four nieces, Angie Blanton, Toni Gaskill, Christy Miranda, and Shelly Rempson.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am in the chapel of Cecil M Burton Funeral Home and Crematory on Saturday, December 29, 2018 with her brother, George Ledford officiating. Burial will be follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Marion. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of White Oak Manor in Shelby and Angela Moses the Hospice nurse who gave Delores such wonderful loving care.
