Dennis Roy Peace, 65, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2013 peacefully at home.  A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Isom James and Ellen Blanton Peace.  He was also preceded in death by his brothers Isom Jerry Peace, Jr. and Steven Wayne Peace.  Dennis served in the Navy during the Vietnam Conflict for three years.  He was a disabled veteran.  He was of the Baptist faith – he loved the Lord.

Mr. Peace is survived by three sisters, Nancy Brewer and husband Jack of Shelby, Diane Burleyson of Shelby, Suzanne Crawley of Vale, NC; three brothers, John Peace of Gastonia, Robert Peace of Ware Shoals, SC, Terry Peace of Waynesville, NC; and a very special niece and caregiver Lisa R. Lowery; many other nieces, great nephew; and a very special great niece Aubrey Scott; and a special great nephew Hunter Scott whom he worshiped.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.  Burial will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery at 1:00pm.  The Rev. Rodney Navey and Rev. Keith Navey will be officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:30am at the funeral home prior to the service.
