Dennis Wayne Edmondson

Mr. Dennis Wayne Edmondson, 71, of Shelby departed this life February 18, 2013 peacefully at home.  He was born on January 30, 1942 in Cleveland County to the late Walter T. and Annie Belle Edmondson. 

Dennis was well known in the community as owner/operator of Edmondson’s Kwik Stop & Coin Laundry for 25 years.  He also had been previously employed by Carter Chevrolet of Shelby, Daniels Construction, and Duke Power in Rock Hill, SC.  He was a founding member of Landmark Baptist Church.  Dennis never met a stranger and gained many friends with his travels to Crappiethon Tournaments and Car Shows.  He enjoyed gardening as he was known for his “green thumb”.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter.  He also restored classic cars and collecting antiques.  He lived a humble life, just his way.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Maxine Edmondson and his brother, Ronnie Edmondson.

 

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 47 years, Madgie “Ola” Weaver Edmondson of the home; two daughters, LeeAnn Edmondson Ellis (Chris) of Shelby and Lori Edmondson Dawadi (Bharat) of Shelby; adopted daughter, Marcia Edmondson (Jerry Injejekian) of Shelby; adopted son, M. Keith Edmondson of Shelby; one brother, Tommy Edmondson (Maxine) of Shelby; two sisters, Linda Hartman (Bob) of Shelby and Christa Jewell (Chris) of Clearwater, Fl; one sister-in-law, Kaye Edmondson of Boiling Springs; seven grandchildren, Brianna Marie Edmondson of the home, Jordan and Brandon Houser, Bryant Dawadi, Jennifer and Joshua Rhinehardt, Chad Davis of Fl; his loyal companion “Tico”; one great grandchild, a host of nieces and nephews, friends; and a special friend, Ken Pruett of Rock Hill, SC.  Special thanks to Terry toney, Rhonda Robinson, Brittney Hudgins, Hospice of Cleveland County, Dr. Douglas Boyette, and 3rd floor CRMC.

 

A celebration of life service will be held at 7:00pm on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Landmark Baptist Church.  The Rev. Allen Davis will be officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5:30 – 7:00pm at the church prior to the service.  At other times the family will be at the home.
