SHELBY: Dennis Wayne Hamrick, 73, went to be with his Lord, Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at Atrium Health in Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Herman and Lois Allen Hamrick. Dennis served six years in the National Guard, retired from Hoechst Celanese, and was a lifelong member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, RA leader, and on the CD ministry. He enjoyed gardening, and giving to others, whether it be firewood or vegetables. Dennis was always known to smile and share kind words with all he met. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Karen Hamrick; brother, Raymond Carlton Hamrick; daughter, Karen Lynn Hamrick; father-in-law, Isaiah Harrill Cooper; and mother-in-law, Geneva Inez Russ Cooper. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Pat Cooper Hamrick, of the home; sons, Joey Wayne Hamrick and wife Janet, and Kevin Herman Hamrick and wife Brandy; grandchildren, Andy Danielle Hamrick, Annabelle Hamrick, and Arlie Hamrick; brothers, Michael Hamrick and wife Vanda, and Scott Hamrick and wife Sheila, all of Shelby; sister, Sandra Johnson and husband James of Boliva, NC, sister-in-law, Mary Frances Hamrick of Shelby; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 6-7:30pm, Monday, December 17, 2018, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2pm, Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, with Rev. Tim Trexler and Rev. Wayne Holley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Building Fund, 1227 Mt. Sinai Church Road, Shelby, NC 28152.
