Dennis Wayne Thurkill, 71, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on December 27, 1953, in Cleveland County to the late James Glenn Thurkill and Ethel Clark Thurkill.

Dennis had a lifelong love for racing, fishing, and golf. In his younger years, he enjoyed racing go-karts and remained passionate about motorsports throughout his life.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Lynda Turney Thurkill; his daughters, Angela Hayman (Benjamin) and Ashley Ermer (Corey); and his beloved grandchildren, Kaitlyn Brooks, Zachary Hayman, Annabeth Ermer, and Lincoln Ermer. He is also survived by his sister, Glenda Huffstickler (William); niece and nephew, Michelle Jones and Michael Huffstickler; and his faithful canine companion, KC, his "little buddy."

To honor the life of Dennis, the family will receive friends on Monday, September 1, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory.
