Dessie Lee Brackett, 97, of Shelby, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby.

Dessie was born on January 4, 1929 in Cleveland County, to the late Romie Blain Brackett and Cordelia Self Brackett. She was retired from American Airlines and attended Mt. Moriah Community Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, J.D. Self and William T. Brackett and three sisters, Lucy B. Bumgardner, Carrie B. Lovelace and Jessie Sweezy

Dessie is survived by a brother, Johnny Ray Brackett of Shelby and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be private.
