Deveron Elizabeth Gordon Helgeson

Deveron Elizabeth Gordon Helgeson, age 86, resident of Grover, NC died June 21, 2018 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center. She loved and trusted the Lord Jesus Christ in both life and death. Deveron was born in Chicago, Il. She was the daughter of the late Evelyn Whitlock Gordon and Daniel Phillip Gordon. In addition to Grover and Chicago, she also had previously lived in Kentucky, Ohio, and California. Deveron accepted Christ as her Savior at age 12 and remained His disciple and a devoted student of His Word throughout her life. She attended Moody Bible Institute and participated in Yoke Fellows Institute. An avid reader since the age of 3, she recently published a work of historical Christian fiction, Barabbas, Man of Shadows. Deveron was a faithful church member. She served many years as an adult Sunday School teacher and a volunteer at the Greater Cleveland Co Baptist Association. She especially appreciated the many loving ministries of Boiling Springs Baptist Church while she was at the nursing center. She was a proud and dedicated "doggie mommy" and active in the Cleveland Co Humane society. Deveron was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lloyd E. Helgeson.

SURVIVORS: Lee Jay Cobb, whom she loved and depended upon as a faithful son-in-love and his wife Bobbi and their son, Ajay.

Barbara Preuss, to whom she gave a place in her heart as a daughter; "bonus" grandsons of the heart; exceptionally loving and faithful sisters-in-Christ, Carolyn Reed and Dr. Alice Cullinan;

Nieces: Linda Masi and husband Victor Masi and Patricia Neilson.

Great nieces and nephews.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Monday, June 25, 2018 11:00 A.M. Boiling Springs Baptist Church, Boiling Springs, NC Rev. Keith Mckinney and Rev. John Barnhardt, officiating.

INTERNMENT: Grover Cemetery, Grover, North Carolina
