Dexter "Deckie" Delk, 84, died Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Hospice at Wendover.

A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Arval and Macie Ensley Guffey.

Deckie loved her family and enjoyed good food and gardening. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Delk; and siblings, Mary Poteate, Eunice Ramsey, Baxter Guffey, Roy Guffey, Reid Guffey, Garland Guffey, Dorothy Smith and Buddy Guffey. She is survived by her daughters, Dawn Delk and Jeanette Sun, both of Shelby; sister, Valoree Harrill of Forest City; and grandson, Ping Sun Dickerson of Shelby.

The family will receive friends 5-6:30pm, Friday, April 30, 2021 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1pm, Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Stroup officiating.
