Dixie Rodders 28th Annual Car Show
The Dixie Rodders held their 28th annual car show for the third year back where it all started, in Shelby. On Saturday, June 2nd, the show was on display around Uptown Shelby’s historic court square. The Rodders first show was held in 1985 at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds, then moved to Lake Lure from 1987 to 1992. The next two years it was held at Pine Mountain, N. C. and in 1995 returned to Lake Lure. It was in 2009 that the club made the decision to return to its home base. Every car on display was customized. The Dixie Rodders developed their name from “Hot Rods”. Hot Rods are typically American cars with large engines modified for linear speed.
