Dolly Jane Brown, age 85, of Forest City, died Saturday, December 8, 2018 at her residence.
Dolly was born July 1, 1933 in McDowell County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Dock Odie Lowery and Marian Styles Lowery. She was a graduate of North Cove High School. Dolly worked for McDowell Public Schools in the cafeteria for many years and then for Baxter Laboratory until retirement. She attended the Restoration Church and enjoyed flower gardening, cooking and especially loved family get togethers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, Lens "Hooter" Brown; two sisters, Mary Lou Fox and Annie Mae McKinney and four brothers, Walter, Frank, Arnold and Ted Lowery.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Dennis Brown and wife, Denese of Cliffside; a daughter, Diane Campbell and husband, Charles of Forest City; five grandchildren, Drannon Brown, Drew Brown (Autumn), Travis Greene (Meredith), Tammy Campbell, Tina Yelton (Jeff); sixteen great-grandchildren, Tucker, Zander, Hunter, Olivia, Owen, Macy, Carly, Caden, Grason, Jaxon, Sully, Megan (Josh), Blake (Crystal), Aubrey (Curtis), Anna Leigh, Austin (Cari) and six great-great-grandchildren, Brantley, Maddox, Brody, Jackson, Landon and Willow. She is also survived by two sisters, Doris Chapman (Kenneth) and Kathleen Good all of McDowell County and two sisters-in-law, Vonda Lowery and Margaret Surratt also of McDowell County and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 14, 2018 at the Restoration Church of Forest City with Reverend Jerry Hames, Reverend Darren Best and Reverend Kevin Bradley officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Harrelson Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Biddix Family Cemetery in Marion on a later date.
