Donald "Don" B. Peters

GROVER: Donald "Don" B. Peters, 83,passed away on February 17, 2022 at Testa Family Hospice House, surrounded by his family. Don was the son of the late Robert "Pete" Peters and Daisy Hastings Peters. He served in the US Army Signal Corp from 1962 to 1964. Don was a loyal employee of Hoechst Celanese for 35 years. He began career with Fiber in the Staple Department and then entered the clerical field. He began work on February 22, 1965 and retired on December 31, 1997 as Human Resources Assistant. He then worked 2 years as temporary fill-in for the clerical personnel. Don was a life-long member of Lafayette United Methodist Church. Don will be remembered as a loving and devoted father. His happiest moments are being with his two sons, Tim (Chrisy), Jody and grandchildren. He enjoyed being around his friends and co-workers. His fondest remembrances are with his most beloved and cherished friend, Betty Jane Scoggins. Don is survived by Timothy (Tim) Peters, Chrisy Tuttle, Granddaughter, Alexis Grace Peters, grandson, Ryan Christopher Peters of Charlotte, NC and Jonathan (Jody) Peters and granddaughter, Kylie Sherwood and husband, Tyler, of Boone, NC and Great Grandson, Jack Wiley Sherwood. Funeral services will be held 10:00AM, Monday, February 21, 2022 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, as he has asked a trusted friend, Jack Poole, to preside over the services. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. A private family burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
