Donald Hugh Smith, 84, of Lawndale, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at home.

Born in Cleveland County, on February 22, 1939, he was a son of the late Lester Smith and Selva Hicks Smith. He was retired from Carolina Freight Carriers as a truck driver. He was a member of St. Peters United Methodist Church and form Mason. He also served in the US Army as a paratrooper.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Joe Smith; and three sisters, Ann Elliott, Hilda Crotts, and Grace Elliott.

He is survived by his wife of two sons, Scott Smith and Dustin Smith; a daughter Lisa Mobley; grandson, Caleb Mobley; the mother of his children, Faye Smith; and a sister, Geraldine Bassett.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Peters United Methodist Church with Mr. Ronnie King officiating.

The family will greet friends following the service in fellowship hall.
