Done Greene

After searching endlessly for several weeks, he finally located the keys to his favorite car of all time. It was his first car, a 1955 Chevy which was black on the outside and cherry red on its shiny interior. This is the vehicle that he wanted to drive down the streets of gold in heaven. Having finally located those beautiful polished silver keys, he departed earth for his forever home in heaven.

Don was born into a car salesman's home on March 22, 1945. He learned to appreciate the art of being a honest salesman who wanted to find the perfect item for the person seeking it. He was the epitome of an excellent salesperson. From the beginning of his life he fine-tuned that art.

Don graduated from Crest High School and proceeded to Kings College to pursue a degree in business. Following college he began working at Belk Department Store in Shelby. He quickly moved from salesman to department manager. Within two years he was promoted to assistant manager of Forest City Belk and became the manager a few years later. He finished his Belk career as manager of the Shelby Belk store. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Salvation Army as both Chairman and Co-Chairman for many years. Don was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church and was a deacon and served as head usher for 14 years. Don was a former member of the Shelby Rotary Club and Forest City Civitan. He continued his love of cars by making it his hobby. He bought and sold cars and used the extra income to put his children through college. Don was a devoted father, grandfather, husband, son, brother and friend.
