Dorothy Ann Ager Mask

Dorothy Ann Ager Mask, 86, transitioned peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on July 18, 2024, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC.

She was born to the late William Ager and Frances Hoyle Ager on November 3, 1937, in Shelby, NC.

She was a long time, faithful member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Shelby, NC, where she served in various ministries over the years. Most recently, she served in leadership in the Annie Jones Mission group, Women's Auxiliary, and the Health Ministry. Dorothy was instrumental in starting the health ministry at Shiloh. She was also an active member and supporter of the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Association where she served on the Women's Auxiliary.

Actively serving in her community, Dorothy has served as a Guardian ad Litem and youth mentor. She was also an active participant in the local NAACP. She also had a card ministry sending cards for birthdays and other special occasions to her family down to great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, church family, and friends. Dorothy was always willing to help and encourage others.

Dorothy was in the 1955 graduate class of Cleveland School. Later she attended Gardner Webb University for nursing thus starting her lifelong calling as a registered nurse. Dorothy served in various capacities as a nurse with most her career at Cleveland Home Health and later at Hospice of Cleveland County.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was Preceded in death by her husband, Gather Mask, and her first grandson, Kenneth Mobley, Jr.; Two brothers, William Ager, Jr. "Billy" and Leon Ager; a sister, Elaine Ager, who passed as a child. Leaving to cherish her memories are son, Kenneth Mobley (Deborah); daughter, Karen Spencer (Jay); six grandchildren, Kelly Dogan (Erik), Jonathan Spencer, Jayson Spencer, Justin Spencer, Joseph Spencer, and Khloe Spencer; Three great grandchildren, Vincent Dogan, Greyson Dogan, and Xavier Dogan; Two brothers, Joe Harrison Ager and Darryl Steve Ager; and three sisters, Gloria Yvonne Jones, Emma Jean Harris, and Frances Elizabeth Shoats and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Shiloh Baptist Church, Shelby, NC at 11:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Webb Memorial Lawns.
