Dorothy Ann “D- Dot” Martin
Mrs. Dorothy Ann “D- Dot” Martin, 77, of  1914 Hollyhill Rd. Shelby, NC departed this life on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.  She was the eldest child born to Zay Dock and Mary Louis Eaves Edwards on August 19, 1935 in Cleveland, County.

Dorothy was a member of Green Bethel Baptist Church and was employed with the Snack Shop in Boiling Springs for over 40 years.  She loved cooking and growing flowers.  Known for her kind-hearted nature, Dorothy was a very friendly person who never met a stranger.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Charles “R.C.” Martin; two brothers, Williard Edwards and Carl Edwards and a niece, Carla Edwards.

She leaves to cherish fond memories, three daughters, Myra Edwards, Mary Wright (Willie) and Diane Martin all of Boiling Springs; three brothers, Charles W. Edwards of Kingstown, NC, Richard Edwards of Shelby and Jerry Edwards of Boiling Springs, NC; sisters, Emily Rice of Lattimore, NC, Mary Sims and Evelyn Edwards both of Boiling Springs, Margaret Freeman of Kingstown, Julia Lyles of Shelby and Janet Edwards and Linda Edwards both of Boiling Springs; nine grandchildren, Steven Edwards (Lucresa) of Charlotte, NC, Kasondra Wright also of Charlotte, Zay Martin, Rakim Martin, Tyrell Wright, Shantel Martin, Desmond Martin, Quintin Martin and Asia Wright all of Boiling Springs; two great-grandchildren, Keara Wright and Aloriah Martin; sisters-in-law, Hazel Hicks and Sarah Martin both of Shelby, Inez Earl of Gastonia, Grace Martin of Boiling Springs and Linda Edwards of Providence, RI; close family friend whom she thought of as a son, Anthony Holland (Amy) and their children, Marissa, Magen and A.J. all of Greenville, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 1:30 PM at Green Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Wade Wallace officiating.  Burial will take place at the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:30 PM at the church and at other times at the home of her daughter, Myra Edwards, 131 Victor Drive, Shelby (Boiling Springs).
