Dorothy Canipe Wright, age 78 of Vernon St. passed away peacefully Friday, November 3, 2017 at Testa Family Hospice House in Kings Mountain. She was born November 11, 1938 in Gaston County to the late Walter Andrew and Eunice Pope Canipe. Dot was 1957 graduate of Cherryville High School and a member of Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Don Alan Wright; brothers, Ken and Bud Canipe; and brother-in-law, Roger Wright.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 49 years, William Dennis Wright; and nephews and nieces, Charles Canipe and wife, Lisa, Mark Wright and wife, Billie, Tawana Wright and husband, Trent, and Jerry Canipe; sisters-in-law, Joyce Wright, Mildred Canipe, Jeanette Canipe, and Billie Melton; brother-in-law, David Wright; uncle, David Pope; aunt, Martha Braden; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Holtsclaw officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 to 2:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Missionary Methodist Church Building Fund, 318 W. Ballard St. Cherryville, NC 28021.
